An Educational Upbringing
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Adeyemi was shaped by curiosity and creativity, exploring the world around him with the support of his family. His mother was a symbol of strength, and his siblings inspired him to pursue his interests, learning and growing in his endeavors.
Haastrup earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos in Nigeria in 1991. Continuing his academic pursuits, he graduated from the IESE University of Navarra in Spain in 2002 with an Executive Master of Business Administration, diversifying his skill set for success in the employment field.
Professional Accomplishments
Adeyemi entered the oil and gas industry as an ambitious asset team petroleum engineer for Nigeria’s Texaco Overseas Petroleum Company. In this role, he developed the tools necessary to achieve production forecasting, reserves estimation, and formation evaluation, which were the foundation for the rest of his career.
Haastrup later joined one of the leading multinational energy companies in 2002, taking on numerous positions and leaving room for continuous self-improvement. As an asset team petroleum engineer, he prioritized well and reservoir performance, optimizing their operations, which soon led to him transitioning his role from a petroleum engineer to a production engineer. He channeled his operational skills toward planning and managing well interventions.
Throughout his journey, Adeyemi tackled coordination roles as a liftboat/barge coordinator and a well reliability and optimization engineer and strategic planning functions, where he oversaw operational budgets planning and performance. One of his most notable achievements occurred during non-rig well work (NRWW) operations at the company.
From 2017 to 2021, Adeyemi planned and executed NRWW interventions while facing technical challenges from a decline in oil production, which yielded a decrease in revenue. Understanding the cruciality of the situation, he assumed the role of non-rig workover (NRWO) team leader and developed a cost-effective solution that sustained oil output.
Adeyemi’s innovative strategies for the project led to successful outcomes, with his results nearly meeting or exceeding business plan targets. For instance, in 2018, the target was 3,899 BOPD, and his team achieved 5,859 BOPD. His procedures for implementing an insightful data-driven solution were documented through papers published by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, with one of them earning a “Best Conference Paper/Presentation” award.
